with a turbo you are looking at some major power. but it's also going to cost you in the realm of reliability.

if you are going to have this car for the next 5 years i would take it slow and start building it NA

with about 1500 you can increase the power of the car substantially and i feel be pleased with the results. not only will this NA build be cheaper but it won't result in many other costly repairs or added goodies.

if you wanted turbo i can imagine you pushing nearly 300 horse on a stock type-s, it's alot but it will cost you more than just putting the kit together to run turbo. tuning costs, LSD-- all that fun stuff.

my friend previously had an RSX type-s before owning his STi--

with bolt-ons and a hondata reflash he was in the 13's without sacrificing anything. i'll admit you'll be faster with a turbo, but thats not the only thing to look at here for a DD that is only 5 years old.

 

it's all personal preference. same amount of money spent on each, turbo will always make more power. but it's more of a challenge to make power NA. a properly built k20a2 can make some serious NA power.

this is why i tend to stay out of turbo convo's as much as possible. i dont know what im talking bout half the time. h:

 

One guy has ~630whp and 32 psi on the stock block, that's probably not going to last long though....

 

also a supercharger doesnt give you much more torque than your motor already has unlike a turbo the higher in the rpm band the less its going to gain where as in a turbo higher rpms are key to spool ive got 210 to the wheels now and im going toget a full race kit with a gt35r soon im going to build it and should end up in about the 600 whp range or possibly more depending on the boost

can i interchange parts for a turbo? i was thinking since Greddy doesnt make kit that includes an i.c would i just be able to piece everything together?

 

The GReddy kit isn't really worth it IMO.

Go with the Cybernations.

 

I've heard a lot of different opinions about all of these turbo kits and from what i've read HKS is by far the worst. Greddy was one of the best and Cybernation i was told has a lot of mechanical problems. Where they fry rings and all types of stuff... my problem is i dont know which to go with. I know theres not a perfect co. to go with but i would like to cut my losses as much as possible. I went to Precision Turbo.net and they have a turbocharger that pushes about 480 max... i dont need anything more than that. but i guess i'm going to have to just make my own decision arent i? but i'll look into Cybernation more. if you smog is an issue go with the greddy. if not, look elsewhere.
