What year and engine do you have? I have had mine up to redline numerous times. Not much so for racing, since I really don't race, more so for enjoying the car for what it is made for. Other than my listed mod in my sig, it is completely stock. There are no ticks, no valve knock, it pulls in VTEC as it always has, and it doesn't use any more oil than it always has (97-01's tend to use about a quart every 2 months). At 63,000 miles, the car is as close to a new car as you can get with that kind of mileage. How do valves get out of line, anyway? If they are off, the timming is screwed, no?

Valves and the components that go with them have wear-that is why they need adjusted from time to time. You may be in the majority as to oil consumption-BUT my 99 Base sees the track and open road and has 28000 on it-NOT 1 drop lost at 2 2day road racing sessions. Off to Pocono on Friday for another one and the oil is perfect. How you break in an engine and then drive it has much to do with how everything will seat inside. Do I routinely get to 7500 rpm-NO, but 7000 is not shabby and my motor pulls just fine.
Each of my cars has needed a minor valve adjustment (several valves) at 15k intervals-just like Thatpreludeguy is saying.

I thought about this post after tossing my cap and rotor. The car had about 15-18k on these parts and the rotor was REALLY due. I have to admit the cap wasn't too bad but I like to make sure my car is in the best shape it can be since I drive it hard most of the time.
