Default White Smoke

I know I've heard that white smoke is coolant burning, but is there another way to tell besides trying to smell it or doing a compression test. I did a compression test about...3 or 4 months ago and it was fine...5-10% leakage. There has been quite a bit of white smoke from my exhaust, possibly because I ran at the track alot this weekend. Can anyone gimme some tips...how to tell for sure...quotes on the labor and parts and what parts I should check to replace also...piston rings, valves, which gaskets? Thanks...for my info my car is a 94 prelude si with 128,000 miles on it

(Running strong until now..,)

Is it pure white smoke, or is it grey?
White of course is coolant, so if your car overheated before the smoke, then thats probably it. You might have blew a head gasket.... You might want to do another compression check just to be sure. And definately don't run your baby hard!

Oh yeah, check your exhaust for any extreme amounts of condensation.

I don't see puddles of oil on the ground...is there any way to make sure the oil isn't leaking?

check near the oil filter area if you have access to a lift..... that was happening on my friends and the oil was dripping a little from where the filter was and going right onto the exhaust then burning off..... and since it was hitting the exhaust and burning off he couldnt see it on the ground either....

The one sure way to find out what's wrong is to do a leakdown test. You'll probably have to go to a mechanic to get it done, 'cause you have to have the proper guages and stuff. It will show if your head gasket is leaking (bubbles in the radiator), exhaust valves burned (hear leaking air from the exhaust), rings bad (hear air leaking from the oil fill cap), etc.
