Is it pure white smoke, or is it grey?
White of course is coolant, so if your car overheated before the smoke, then thats probably it. You might have blew a head gasket.... You might want to do another compression check just to be sure. And definately don't run your baby hard!

Oh yeah, check your exhaust for any extreme amounts of condensation.
