4WS Preludes
I was just curious who has a 4WS Prelude. I was alsoo curious how to distinguish a 4WS from a regular Prelude. There are a bunch of 3rd Gen Preludes around and was wondering if there were any distinguishing badges or anything to tell them apart. Was the 4WS only on the Si?

No there are no obvious badges, however if you were to see one you could tell by looking at the rear axle, completely different setup. They are non-vtec models as well with the h23a engine, 2.3l si. If you were curious how the 4ws works basically it's sensors to activate the steering of the rear wheels are connected to the wheel speed sensors on the rear wheels and the 4ws doesnt actually kick on till the driver reaches 30mph. Also I cant say I have ever seen one out on the road which tells me one thing, 4ws mush have been a bad idea and too me it was.

The B pillar will have a 4WS badge on it, mine does as have all of the 3G's I've seen.

4WS works at slow speeds and fast speeds. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction that the front wheels turn. At high speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels are turned.

Like twokexlv6coupe said, there is a badge, not sure about the 3rd gen though. This is from my 4th gen:
BS, I can see the rear wheels move while the car is parked. On the 3rd gen the rear wheels are physically connected to the front steering so they should move all the time as well.
Have you ever driven one? If you have and didn't like it then that's your opinion, if not you need to stop talking about shit you don't know anything about and pass it off as fact. Also, how many where made? I've never seen one other than mine on the road but that doesn't mean its because "it was a bad idea". See this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Prelude#1988

In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS outslalomed every car of that year, including all Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches. It went through the slalom at 65.5 mph, which was amazing in those days. For reference, the 1988 Corvette did the same at 64.9 mph.

Nah, it wasn't that the 4ws was bad idea. It just cost more. When honda offered the option on 3g all you would get extra besides 4ws was power locks. Honda never stopped making the 4ws, they just stopped selling them in the states. The 3g 4ws was the best over all its a mad simple setup, no electical to suddenly crap out.
