Nah, it wasn't that the 4ws was bad idea. It just cost more. When honda offered the option on 3g all you would get extra besides 4ws was power locks. Honda never stopped making the 4ws, they just stopped selling them in the states. The 3g 4ws was the best over all its a mad simple setup, no electical to suddenly crap out.
