Default Is My Prelude Ruined??????

Last Summer, We Had A Terrible Slew Of Rain That Seriously Downpoured For About 10 Days Straight..i Had A Pair Of Aftermarket Taillights Originally Which My Husband Changed And Put The Stock Lights Back In. Problem Is,there Was A Gap On The Side Of One Light And Long Story Short, The Car Got Flooded..the Whole Trunk Was Filled And The Car Was Sitting Nose Facing Downwards And The Water Went Into The Car On The Floor And There Was About 6 Inches Of Water In There On The Floor...the Car Doesn't Start Up Now + The Car Won't Come Out Of Gear. It's An Automatic With A Speed Shifter. Do You Think The Ecu/ecm Brain Of The Car Got Fried Because Of The Water Damage? Any Ideas Would Be Appreciated Here..i Miss My Car!!

Throw it in the gutter and go buy anutter
oh, and I doubt that enough water to ruin your car came in through a tiny little gap between the body of the car and the taillight. Maybe if he left both taillights out of the car and it rained sideways for 40 days and 40 nights. I don't know how 6" deep of water through the whole car could leak in through a tiny little crack. Also, you didn't drive your car for 10 days? Your story sounds like it doesn't hold water. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Not trying to be an asshole but there has to be something else going on with the car, like he left the sunroof open and didn't want to admit it or something.

Default Your Wrong

You Are Soooooooo Wrong...i Witnessed The Whole Thing...nothing Was Left Open Whatsoever...this All Happened Due To A Gap With The Moulding Around The Stock Taillight On The Right Side. We Didn't Notice Until The Trunk Was Full And There Was Mold On The Seats Inside. This Car Was Sitting Because We Were Driving Our Jeep...i Swear, This Is 100% True. I Just Purchased A Ecu / Ecm Off Ebay So I'm Gonna Try It. If That Doesn't Work, I Will Have To Get It Towed To Have Someone Check It Out. I Was Just Trying To Avoid That Due To $$ Being Tight.

you can take the car out gear by pulling the little insert where the shifter is and putting a key in it to release the shift lock . but since you got 6" of water on the floorboard due to the angle . the chances of your ECU and TCU being damaged is very good since they are both mounted to the passenger floorboard you can try pulling them both out and drying them. it's an expensive fix since your going to need both units and also I hope you have the RED learn key or else you will need a new immobilizer control unit to go with it and it's dealer only . but there are ways around it but it requires good soldering skills and a EEPROM burner.

p.s remember to get a ECU for a 97-98 as 99+ are diffrent it will run but will be hard to start after fillup due a diffrent EVAP system on 99+

I work in a body shop, and have seen cars flooded due to any number of things, even a small crack will let a ton of water in if left unattended. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I hope everthing works out. Sounds like you are going to need a complete interior, that sucks!!!

Default Thank You

Thank you all for the information except for the first guy who doubted my issues with the car....I have gotten the ECU and will have to bring it to the local shop to have them take a look. I just can't believe this even happened...what are the chances of that!!?? Oh well, I will update this thread once I have some information.
