you can take the car out gear by pulling the little insert where the shifter is and putting a key in it to release the shift lock . but since you got 6" of water on the floorboard due to the angle . the chances of your ECU and TCU being damaged is very good since they are both mounted to the passenger floorboard you can try pulling them both out and drying them. it's an expensive fix since your going to need both units and also I hope you have the RED learn key or else you will need a new immobilizer control unit to go with it and it's dealer only . but there are ways around it but it requires good soldering skills and a EEPROM burner.
p.s remember to get a ECU for a 97-98 as 99+ are diffrent it will run but will be hard to start after fillup due a diffrent EVAP system on 99+
