Default Starting problem,,,HELP!!!

guys

Not sure if anyone may have encountered this problem.

My car had been parked for the winter and I decided to start it today. I had charged the battery last week and therefore decided to crank the engine. The first attempt was a failure,,,it was like the battery had no juice. I then hooked up the charger and tried after 30mins,,,,now I'm getting a clicking sound with ALL the lights flickering on the dashboard. The battery is showing a full charge, as the lights and other electrical devices are operating normally. What could be the issue??

Let me know if someone has an insight on this issue

Thanks

if there's a clicking but no cranking then your starter is the culprit. Take it off and go to the twilight zone (Auto Zone) have tem test it.

Yea my accord had its starter go to. But if I tried turning it over a few times it would eventually start, have you tried multiple times?

it is not your starter! your batter is tits up. if your lights start flickering and your starter is chattering then you have a power problem not a starter problem. replace the battery with a known good one and try that. do not replace the starter yet. honda starters rarely go bad

even if the batter shows a full charge it can still have a dead/weak cell. replace that first. its cheaper than a new starter

Okay,,so I tried multiple times and the noise is more like a grinding sound rather than a clicking sound. It seems like 2 plates are rubbing against one another. fuel pump is okay and all other electronics is fine,,,but the lights flicker when I crank.
Question is,,how can it be the battery if the crank sounds strong,,,are there any other electrical components that could be fried??

Have you tried just jump starting your car off of someone elses? Try that before you do anything else, then come back to us.

my battery went bad, it was a newer honda geniune battery too. It would make the same sounds you were describing while I was tryin to start it. So I tried to jump it and sure enough it started up. My battery was still under warranty and I went to my local dealership, Hidy Honda. They said it was the battery and I got a brand new one under warranty. Mines a 97 with 10100.

like someone else said earlier, try jumping it and see if that works. then you know it would be the battery. Good luck
