my friend has a 92 eclipse gs stock the motor has 7.8.1 compression pistons and puts out 195 hp at 9 psi of boost which is stock for the 90-93 eclipse so if you were to take that turbo off the engine it would probably only produce about 130 hp i know personally 2 people who have cars this year and they are running low 9's in the quatermile with 8.5.1 compression pistons so mabey you might have a point on that my buddie put about 8000 into just building the motor and making it ready to withstand 30psi by just simply straping on a bigger turbo . i can prove it by makeing a phone call to luke at beyond redline in wisconsin. ... thing im most worried about is detination and finding a head gasket that will be able to withstand the boost and higher compression other that that all the parts i listed do exhist ive seen them online for sale its just a matter of searching all over again now that im gonna have the money to actually buy them all.. but the one thing im worried about is getting some new axels the stock ones probably wont be good for anything over 300 now i seen this website that sells axels for civic's and intergra's that can withstand up to 850 hp without any prolbems so my question is this i know people swap the h22 into civic's so will thoes axels work on my 93 prelude??

check out the September '03 issue of HCI (Hot Compact & Imports); Rage Performance built an H22 that puts out 725 hp! So it is possible...

You're forgetting that Eclipse's like boost. H22s don't. To get your goal, whatever it is, there's no way you're car is going to be street legal. There are plenty of people putting out 700+ whp with H22s, but they spent way more than 15k and so much time it's ridiculous. Comparing boosted Eclipses to a boosted H22 is like comparing apples to monkeys. I don't think you realize how hard it is to get that much power out of an H22.

what is so hard building an h22.. boring and sleeving will take care of the cyclender walls and then with a build head and bottom end all i will have to really worrie about is the timing, detination is a verry bad thing.. other than that if i can push 20-30 psi threw that h22 ill have no prolbem reaching 500whp at least in theory.. mabey you could help me with identifying some prolbems i might run into instead of telling me its too hard. thanks

That's what searching is for. Noone has the time to spoon feed you all the info you need. These things have been covered hundreds of times on the internet. Put a little effort into it.

Rather than taking time out of your day to respond as a jackass, either respond in a helpful manner (perhaps directing him to sites/forums with helpful info) or find something better to do with your time. He's come on here looking to gain information to reach a goal, not to put out an idea and have people tell him he's a moron. It is quite do-able and he obviously wants to spend the time and money. Just cuz you wouldn't doesnt mean we should all follow your lead.

If you want to say it's not worth it, simply warn him of a possible/approximate cost of doing it and let him decide if it's worth it.

Now back to the subject. In terms of your axle strength issue, and since your doing a lot of custom stuff anyways, make your own. Measure up your current ones, and find out how close they are to the ones for the civics or whatever. Make sure they're built the same (spline's and such) and customize your supension/drive components. The CV's could be extended or manufactured from scratch to fit your car. Alot of 4x4 guys get custom driveshafts, I don't see why it can't be done for an import.

Another posibility could be some kind of adapter in the hub or transmission. Very custom and in need of a professional with some killer tools, but i think it could be done.

I'm not saying he's a moron, or that I wouldn't put time and energy into something like this. It just seems like he's comparing a turbo'd prelude to a GS-T or GSX. They're 2 different things, and a Prelude will never be as fast in a straight line as an Eclipse. Just seems like he's using other cars to get a sense of what he's trying to do with his Lude, and there's no way he's gonna get the same results, regardless of whp.
