bad gas mileage!!!!
im gettin about 250-275 miles to the tank.....those arent good numbers.....i have a 00 lude 5 speed. I hit vtec about 4 or 5 times per tank and i rev to about 3200 rpm before i shift. i got a v2 intake, aem underdrive pulleys, denso iridium spark plugs and nology hotwires......wats the deal here???
No matter what you do, prelude's dont get good gas mileage, it's rated 22 city, 27 highway. Typically those are a bit more than you'll actually get...so unless you're gonna drive like a granny...dont expect much better.
Well, by doing a simple calculation...
250 miles divided by an average 15.9 gallon tank (or fillup) would yield an average mpg of 15.7 which is absolutely horrible.
at 275 miles per tank, you're still getting 17.9 which is still about 5-6 mpg off from the average expected city mileage.
have you check o2 sensor? fuel filter? you obviously have new plugs/wires. Also, it would make sense that if you have an aftermarket intake/filter, you would be running more air. to compensate, your ECU throws in more fuel. This will cause a loss of gas mileage. you bought performance parts to go fast, right?
btw, on hondatech, there is a thread reporting gas mileage. People have generally gone 280 at a low, to 350 at a high. on all highway, some guy went almost 400!
And Vassil, I think its not right to compare an 88 lude to a 00. i saw a graph one time in statistics class showing the rapid increase of gas mileage due to better technological advance in fuel injection systems. also, your accord v6 is just that, a v6. So you would probably see less fuel efficiency in that as well.

Just to add, 15.9 is the actual tank size, so lets imagine for a moment that you fillup with say, 1 gallon in the tank.
250 miles= 16.7 mpg
275 miles=18.4 mpg
and with say, 3 gallons left 19.3 mpg (@250)
and at 275 miles 21.3 mpg.
...sorry, i like numbers.
the most accurate way to tell us of an issue like that would to fill up your tank with x amount of gallons. when you reach a certain point, record mileage. divide and get an accurate mpg.

Alright, here comes ultra geek:
I... made a freaking spreasheet! Trying to keep track of stuff:
These are all the fill ups I have to date, you can see my driving imrpove over time, to a good 26 mpg, then the last 2 weeks are wtf. Not sure why.

Here's a pic of my lude....
Sorry Vassil, i saw your SN, and meant it for the guy posting above you, hothonda18.
I dont know the inside of a Prelude engine bay like clockwork, so i couldnt specifically tell you where the fuel filter is located. However, if you like to run the tank to empty (like myself and many others do) chances are you're bringing up old crap from the bottom of the tank. This is stuff that clogs fuel filters.
Remember, the single most important factor in fuel efficiency and mileage is the driver themselves. You say that preludes are bad on gas, and you only get 17 mpg? thats not very good. I know many people including my brother who drive around mostly in city situations with stop and go (my brother is a delivery guy, uses his lude) and still gets 22 mpg, or close to 325 a tank) if you're averaging low fuel economy and so are your friends, maybe you guys are driving aggressive. You may see it as normal though.
Yankee...if you already have new plugs and wires, check fuel filter, cap, rotor, distributor. Also, check tire pressure. With weather fluctuations, this can change as well. If all else fails, check engine compression and oil consumption.
