Lude tire recommendations
Just another tire recommendation thread...
As soon as I get another job I need to get some new tires on my car. I'm running on stock Prelude wheels and currently have Toyo Proxies on them (what was on the car when I got it) and I'm looking for best bang for the buck type tires. I suppose I can run on summer tires here in Georgia all year really since it rarely snows here and I'd like some decent thread life and good handling tires (and I'd like to spend the least amt possible..as much as I'd love what $600-700 gets me that's a bit steep)

bridgestone potenxa re750 for summer. re950 for all year. both great tires.
for more performance but less wet weather and no snow. falken azenis. also very inexpensive but very soft, not a lot of tread life.
dont cheap on rubber...it could mean life or death.

yeah the 750's are a decent tire for what you want. better than the es100's, imo.
the pirelli pzero neros are pretty nice too, solid all around performer, i got about 25,000 miles on my set before they died. not the best grip but good wet traction.
you may want to check out the goodyear F1 GSD3's which get rave reviews and seem to have decent life for a top flight performance tire. i know tirerack was having a sale on them a few months ago at 118/tire for 205/50/16.

Anyone have a first hand review for the Toyo Proxies 4 tire? I found tireswap I can get them for $85 each..I run Proxies now but they aren't 4's (they were on the car when I got them and seem to be pretty good)

You could try the Yokohama ES100 and the Pirelli PZero Nero that was mentioned. You could also consider the Falken FK-451 and the Kumho MX, both of which give good grip, with the MX the better "ultimate" grip between the two...either of them can be had for a little above $400 after shipping from Discount Tire (www.tire.com) and TireRack (tirerack.com) respectively. as monkey said, the Goodyear F1 GSD3's have had good reviews, and have excellent wet traction. They're kinda pricey though. I don't mention the Azenis (officially the Falken RT-215) only because they're mainly a dry traction tire (ie: they suck in the rain) and have a short thread life. They are the grippiest tire for the money, and it, along with the MX, are the tires to have for autocrossers.
Greatest tires I've found if you're on a budget are Kumho Ecsta's. They have great Dry grip, but only aaverage wet traction. I have Nitto NT450's and I love them, however they run about $100 a tire on aaverage, which isn't too bad. I suggest going to www.onlinetires.com, even after shipping, they ahve the best deals on tires then anyone where I live. Besides they have all the popular brands at good prices, and very low shipping.
