This will probably be my new home too, it was here or honda-tech.com but I don't like H-T.com's BBS

Right now there are 91 members signed in.
Over 230 members have already paid.
Keep an eye on the number of members that HAVE decided to pay the $6.

and over 230 members paid? that's not a lot

Why did he have to do that anyway? Last time he asked for donations he got what he aimed for, why can't he do it this way now?

See the thing is, you can still read and search so the number of people signed in doesn't mean much. Since I can read and search as much as I want, I'm not going to pay to write up any more installs or post anymore pictures to help other people out. If anything, I think they should only be charging new registration fees.

That includes many inactive members.
The Database was NOT cleaned out when PO.Com split from this site.
Having 10,000-14,000 Inactive members costs the board nothing other than a small amount of disk space, they're not consuming any bandwidth.

We're preparing for increased traffic from the HP.com shutdown and also hoping to 'keep away' any people who want to migrate TO preludeonline.com just to hang out in the Off Topic room all day. Getting a measly $6 from each member should cut down on instances of 'closing of Off Topic' and 'we Raise $1000 by Friday or Off topic and 3 other forums go bye bye'.
I've donated $106.53 to the site since I've been there, and there are others who donate much more.
PO.com costs $300-$400 per month to run and I believe the owner gets a discount from the host because he works for them.

The simple solution is close OT. Create another forum outside of po.com where online "friends" can talk to each other, meet each other, post pictures of yourselves, and what not. That whole section is useless and has absolutely nothing to do with the Honda Prelude. Who the hell really gives a damn about the "prelude curse" ... COMPLETE waste of bandwidth if you ask me.

I'm not gonna pay money so prelude people can talk about bull**** like that.

I agree that it should be the first thing to go whenever a $ problem arises but I do enjoy that forum.
Whenever closing it down rears its head we do usually recommend www.off-topic.net, but more often than not the OT stuff just creeps into the technical forums not only using bandwidth for people reading it but also requiring Mod/Admin attention to lock/move the thread.

so is keeping it open worth the $ issues as opposed to having a mod delete the thread? I highly doubt it. There are so many moderators over there that it shouldn't be a problem.

Because of the $ issue, is it logical to keep OT open?

Hell no and then to ask people to pay to help support it is ludicrous.
