I never said that they should. All I stated is that everyone is entitled to their opinion...that's what's great about this country.

i was raised catholic. if i had to vote for this 5 years ago, i probably would have voted yes. but i've grown and become less closed-minded to the issue which is why i voted no. i honestly don't agree with the way they live, but what they're doing doesn't hurt anything and there is no reason they need to be punished in anyway.

this is pretty much like not letting women or blacks vote

That's the problem. Allowing people to make a vote based on their religious opinions on how others live their lives is ridiculous. A christian conservative worried about the sanctity of a word should have no say in the personal lives of others or what their relationships are called. That's what is still fucked up about this country.

Some people would disagree, and say that homosexuality is a choice, and that people aren't born that way.

*disclaimer*that's not my belief, just that of some*disclaimer*

That's what votes are exactly for, people's opinions....religious or otherwise. Whatever their reason is for their vote, that is THEIR choice.

This proposition is a thinly veiled as an attempt from the religious conservatives to impose their religious beliefs on what marriage is or isn't. It's sickening, and it's incredibly sad that these groups of people have nothing going for them in their personal lives that they have to impose their beliefs into the lives of others. If you think that is what's great about our country, then I pity you.

Ill keep my opinions of gay marriage to myself. But Ill say, to be fair to all citizens... give the gays the same benefits of married couples. Marriage license or not.

what else are you supposed to base your vote on if not your own personal beliefs?

And it's the exact same thing with abortion laws, it's all religious and about beliefs.

Gays already have the same rights, except they can't use the word "marriage" because that would piss off ultra-religious people.
