That's my point EXACTLY! Why should the populous have any right to impose what they believe on someone elses personal life? What effect does calling two people "married" have on anybody else? What effect does it have on married christians?

isnt that government by its simplest definition

laws are made every day that impose a majorities(or minority in power) opinions and beliefs on others.

is it right? no, not always but its kinda the way of the world. i agree with you in that its wrong but it is what it is. apperently the majority of the state is still uncomfortable with the notion and well as has been stated majority rules

Most of those laws are done for perceived safety reasons such as gun control,(please note I said perceived) yet laws like this are imposed in civil liberties which have no inherent dangers to our society. Quite a bit different.

im not saying you're wrong, i agree for the most part with you, just let people live so long as they arent harming anyone else who cares

problem is it isnt the case anymore. the government LOVES to tell people what they can and cant do even if it has no relation to public safety ... and people LOVE telling other people what they should or shouldnt be able to do. we are a nation of nosey neighbors

and most other times it involves money one way or another

+1 Laws are created for the betterment of society or to protect people from the actions of other people which would lead to their harm. The notion that one can imply their belief into law isn't a democratic concept, it is more so a theocratic concept.

i hate votes like these because usually the people that care about gay marriage (the ones that would have voted no) dont care as much as the people who care about not having gay marriage (the ones that voted yes)...

maybe that or they are stupid... and thought voting YES means they can get married. :uhhok:
