Cruel and Unusual?
I think anyone clearly proven guilty of violent sex crime should be deprived the use of his reproductive organs. I just saw some show on a serial rapist that brought up this thought in my head, but I've thought this many times. I know a few women who are rape victims, and the kind of trauma this causes is severe and permanent... I would go as far as to say its on-par with taking a life (although I'm sure others would disagree); it utterly alters their perception of life, themselves and members of the opposite sex, often leading to severe depression and scuicidal tendencies.
I'm not sure exactly how they define "cruel and unusual," but I'm a firm believer in the punishment matching the crime (if the electric chair isn't cruel and unusual, I don't know what is--thats gotta be one of the more painful ways to die). A decade in prison just isn't enough.
That, and sex offenders usually have psychological disorders that make them prone to violent sex acts. If you cut off the man's johnson, he's not going to rape anyone.
Who's with me?

"if you cut off the mans johnson hes just going to kill" very unlikely. Removing the sexual organs does very distinct things to a person's biochemistry, among which are a lack of agression and a sharp decline in activity.
What about women rapists? Well, to start off, statistically, women comprise a very small minority of violent sex offenders (probably less than 5%, including the unreported incedents). That aside, they deserve the same treatment. Its just a matter of using an appropriate proceedure.
I have not been raped, but several people close to me have. The disrespectful and demeaning tone with which you approach this issue (albeit, perhaps completely internet ass-ness), is profoundly disturbing (assuming you're actually being frank).
Yes, its usually not necessarily about sex, but that doesn't change the fact that if you remove the major testosterone-enducing organs that they're less likely to a)sexually assault, and b) commit violent crime. It also doesn't change the sexual nature of their crimes.

h:Yes, I know eunuchs are capable of violence. But even if the punishment only "fixes" a moderate percentage of offenders, as I'm sure would at least be the case, I still find it a fitting punishment. I also assume that someone who was not a murderer before would not become one because he has been castrated. There are a lot of rapists who aren't intent on (or even capable of) murder to begin with. I still believe that this (in addition to a lengthy prison sentence) would by-and-large reduce the number of repeat offenders.
I don't consider this the be-all-end-all solution to violent sexual crime, but I do think it is a very fitting and appropriate punishment. Even if the criminal reverts to his ways, if you rape someone, you should consider your balls forfeit, in my never to be humble opinion.
As for women, I'm not sure what an equivalent punishment would be. The instances of female sex crime are pretty darn low, though, so I don't consider it extremely important to the issue.
