If it's not taking advantage of my HDTV I don't want it, I don't care if it has a revolutionary controller if it has old graphics, I want to see the hairs on the back of my characters neck stand up when they're scared, I wanna see their pupils dialate. I'm sure the other systems could figure out a way to make these "interactive controllers" for their systems, and if the graphics are better y do I want to play a game that is superior playing but inferior looking? Games are just as VISUAL as they are INTERACTIVE. I see this as nintendo not being able to match the graphical capabilities of the 360 and PS3, so they came up with gimmick to sell the new system. A+ for the idea, F for not upgrading 100%.

visuals are skin deep. games that dont revolve around creating an enviroment, such as sports games, wont have much to gain from furthering graphics past that of this generation coming up.

again, this generation graphics are still a major concern.

in the next generation, they will merely be a side effect of the evolutionary process

Yea, 'Teg has a point. Why waste all the manpower on a controller? The GC came out in '01, and their next gen system has a few more megs of RAM and a spiffy controller?

I just hope that N is trying to keep the price point to under $150 or that the info that Grifter posted is just smoke and mirrors.

I agree, but Nintendo should be pushing graphics just as much as gameply, it would make the system a double threat. I think they're afraid the system is gonna flop and they want to lighten their losses.

If the controller works the way they want great, but I wonder what kind of glitches may arise.

Might as well include a sensory suit so we can really "jump" into the game

understandable, i dont trust interactive controlers, they are usually for suckers, but nintendo has already made those choices in the 80 with things liek the powerglove and the mat, and the 3d controller (that one is rare, it's bascially two hand held things and a sensor array or something of that nature)

in other words i'm sure they have been playign with this idea for years

:Edit:

also it could just be a hail mary attemp to salvage their home console business...

Oh, and Burnout looks like shit on the DS. Nintendo made me a PSP fanboy, not Sony.
oook. while you're reacting to your emotions, i'm just posting facts: http://news.punchjump.com/article.php?id=1738

Nintendo DS retail sales are at six million units in the U.S. and Japan compared to Sony's PSP at 4.26 million.

no game anywhere does that.

my gut tells me that nintendo is trying to stay true to what a console should be. we'll see if it works out.

I also wonder about 3rd party support and porting of title's. Will developers want to risk putting the extra man hours into programming for another control style for this system, or having to dumb down the graphics due to the consoles limits? If the price point is right I'd look into it, but with such a big change I doubt I'll go out and spend more than $200 on this sytem already knowing it has more opportunities to fail than succeed. If others think the way I do, the system may crash before it gets off the ground.

well to combine details here, maybe nintendo is seeing the success it's having in japan witht he DS as a sign people ther want to play a different way than they're used to.

maybe nintendo is saying if we can't beat them in the US, which obviously the way things are going now they wont have a chance, lets hit them where they arent paying attention, i.e. japan

--that is if our egotistical american minds can acknowledge there are different countries on this planet

First, Nintendo didn't make the Powerglove. Secondly, Nintendo DS is killing the PSP anyway you cut it. At the Expo in Japan, I saw 1 PSP being played, and 15 Nintendo DS systems...yes, I counted. The Expo drew in over a million people every single day, so you had swarms of people waiting in line to go into the Pavillions. Thats where they're all being played. I went to the Expo 4 times.

And now that WiFi is active, these PSP players can enjoy watching everyone have fun with Mario Kart and who knows what else they'll come up with. Anything is possible. Yes, PSP has WiFi. So far it's a turd. DS had a slow start, but that was a year ago.

...and Burnout is shit indeed on the DS. However, for every shit DS title, you have 10 Shit PSP titles.
