2005 Supra
1. They don't want to push the Supra price too high, just look at what happened when they did that w/ the MkIV. There's no way they can produce a V8 at the cost of a V6 price.
2. Yes it would. If they do that put a V8 in a "Supra" then it would need to be pushing at least 400 HP to be competitive w/ the Vette. Which mean it already push itself out of the 350Z class. Which I don't think they want to do.
3. For Purist, they don't want a V6, they want a Turbo I6. So I don't really know what you're saying w/ this point.

If Toyota can pull off this IS430 or IS500 thing into reality, I don't think a V8 would be a issue for them to sell new Supra. It would have outdone the rest of the competition a little bit more with higher price yet still reasonable. I can't remember what was the name for the 280hp+ wagon on sale in Japan which smokes Legacy. From what I recalled, it is not cheaper nor competitve in price with Legacy. It was a bit higher. However, I do not believe that Toyota is going to heavliy tuned its 3.3L because that will be too much like Honda. 287 from 3.5 is still decent but 280 from 3.3 is somewhat a little bit high for a nice torgue. (I am just guessing) It will be very unlike Toyota to me. However, 1 thing for sure is it will be very sport car like how Toyota turns MR2 into MR-Spyder. I don't think it will be going like a super GT as it used to be.

I'm pretty sure people who buy Corvettes are willing to deal with the lower reliability rating. It's a sports car, not an appliance. Chevrolet has plenty of domestic lovers lining up to buy vettes and with the C6 coming out relatively soon it will get even closer in performance to the Viper.
All of the Japanese brands got killed the last time they got into the price range of the Corvette. The FD RX-7 made it til '95, the 300ZX til '96, the Supra til '98 albeit in insanely limited numbers of the turbo, and the 3000GT til '99 with even smaller sales of the turbo. They're not going to do it again. Nissan and Mazda have revived their sports nameplates (Z and RX) and have come out with moderately powered normally aspirated cars with prices that top out in the low-mid 30s. Toyota is not going to run straight up against the vette without first coming out with a more reasonably priced entry.
But really all of this is completely idle speculation because as I have already said, none of these pictures is newer than 5 years old.

MrFatbooty:
Now, If I had disagreed with you on one of your posts, which you have done on many of mine, you would have called it a "contradiction" again and thrown another infantile hissy fit. I'd prefer to not injure your frail sensibilities again, so do us both a favor and don't reply to any of my posts. I've been extending you that courtesy for some time now.

He wasn't replying directly to you. If he was he would have quoted what you said. He was replying to everyone.
But I agree with MrFatbooty. Toyota has to be crazy to bring out a sports car in the 45-50K range.
