I am just going from past experiences. Remember how mini disks were the wave of the future? They are bs and are hardly used. Another thing that was the wave of the future was the beta player as well as A Tracks. I don't think Acura should go on such a limb when this is a very unknown. It would be a big flop is the DVD A medium does not become widely accepted and used.

Honda never goes out on a limb on things so I doubt they will on this.

Whats the worst that can happen? It still plays regular cd's.

Also, i read today that the DVD Audio's are going to drop down to like 16-18 bucks. Not too bad, only a couple bucks more than a regular CD.

Dang fastball, you an audiophile too? That's crazy man, I thought I was one of the only cats that dig Audio/Video and Hondas! lol Looks like you know you're sh*t, n' DAMN man, you do like that high end stuff. That's sh*t I read in Stereophile and Sound & Vision. I got myself an Onkyo TXDS797 THX, w/ a extra Onkyo Amp for more power and the Rear Center channel. Martin Logan's in the front and MK's in the back, oh and a dang good Sunfire Sub!!! HAHAHA, that's cool man! Y'all know your audio as well as ya cars!!! I feel better now, lol!

No, DVD-A is not the same was DVD-Blue. Not that it would matter, since Sony and Panasonic (and Hitachi, Samsung, Philips, and pretty much everyone except Toshiba) are both part of the Blu-Ray Symposium competing against DVD-Blue.

And I think this is the first time Panasonic has been a main stock head unit supplier for Honda-Acura. Traditionally, Honda sticks with Alpine and goes to Bose for its upmarket stuff. If Panasonic is Honda's answer to Toyota's Mark Levinson, I'm not impressed. Panasonic's car audio line is about as good as Sony's Xplod (aka REALLY BAD)

Mini Disc was another format flop by Sony (just like Beta..... see a trend?) With both MD and Beta, Sony either refused to share the technology with other manufacturers, or limited their ability to produce them if they did. Sony wanted to keep a monopoly on the technologies so they were the only ones to make money on it, when it just pretty much turned around, punched them in the face, and they lost money. Remember, Beta is a completely different format physically from VHS, as is MD from CD. While DVDA is a different software from CD, it is still physically the same. So from an engineering standpoint, all they need to do is integrate the DVDA and CD decoding program and circuitry, instead of a completely different mechanism and design. The new TL will have a 6 disc changer and in the player the programing and circuitry for DVDA decoding will be integrated.

Tell me, why on earth did you bring up 8 tracks?

5.1 channel does not neccessarily mean a subwoofer.

I always thought that the .1 mean 1 subwoofer. What else can it mean? you have 4.1 5.1 6.1 7.1, what can the .1 mean if not subwoofer? Also, they're working on a stereo subwoofer right now so in the near future, we'll be talking about .2 instead of .1.
