Sure theoretically, with DVDA you can get much better sound, but you gotta consider the car environment. Road noise and engine noise is one of them. Also, speaker quality is another. Even when DVDA can produce 20Hz-50kHz, if your paper cone speaker can't handle that range, then you won't hear that range. The third component is the power. There's no head unit that can output sufficent power. Which means they have to have at least one Amp in there. I'm just wondering if Acura will go all the way with it and have Speakers like the Boston Pro series to handle the sound and one or two amp to push those speakers. Or are they just have DVDA as a gimmic. I mean CD-A on a supperb system will sound better than DVDA on a crappy system, agree?
You are absolutely right. While I described the properties of the disc and software I also wanted to point this out, but I felt I was going a little long on my posts. While DVDA has the capability to reproduce the most accurate audio ever, the final output will depend on pre amp and amplifer quality, quality of wiring, and of course, speakers. If you skimp on any of those, DVDA is pretty much useless. And DVDA in a car can be almost as useless, as you pointed out, because of the road noise, wind noise, engine, and other vibrations that you don't have in your home. If you want to talk home audio, I can put a thread in the Audio and Electronics forum.

hehe, it's ok, i was just making sure that people know about that as well. Unless you can practically eliminate the noise or get near dead silent, else all the great sounds will just get loss in the noise and vibration. I say it's a gimmic, since there is no car company that's willing to have a stereo system good enough to take advantage of DVD audio.

I see you have BA speakers. Good choice. I love their speakers.

Thanks again fastball. I wonder if this is Acura's response to Lexus and their use of Mark Levinson audio systems? I just hope Acura doesn't skimp on amps, wiring and speakers and negate the entire system. And I wonder why they didn't put this in the 04 RL too?

Thanks. They pale in comparison to my home set up, though. I won't get in to it too much, but I use Pinnacle speakers, Adcom pre-amp and digital processors, and 4 AudioSouce power amps.

haha, true true, those are some nice stuff you just listed. But the Boston Pro are pretty top notch for car audio stuff. I used to have full Boston Pro including sub. Great system.

The system in the Lexus is not real Mark Levinson...... that would require tube amps and isoterric speakers. It's a good system for a car, no doubt. But its also more marketing than anything.

Yes, BA does have the best for cars. I use 2 6x9's in the back deck (factory size) and I don't even need a sub. Very clean, crisp bass. And the passive x-overs for the fronts make the tweeters and mids seamless. Very good presence.

Sorry man. I'm an audiophile. I talk to people at work like this all day. You say one thing about real high end audio and I get in to my zone.
