2004 Pontiac GTO unwrapped
Just looking at the tread pattern on the tires, they look like Bridgestone S-02s. Come on GM, hit us with the S-03s! Although I think maybe the S-02 has become the top tire Bridgestone sells to OEMs, they come standard on the S2000 and IS300 w/ Sport Package.

Mike, the S-02 has better dry handling (therefore grip) charachteristics than the S-03..but the S-03 kicks its ass in the wet.
There's two versions of the S-02. Plain old S-02 and S-02 Pole Position. The plain one is a "dry-only" tire although not to the level of say the BFG g-Force KD. OEMs get that one, not the Pole Position. The S-03 is also a Pole Position tire, that's the name Bridgestone tacks on to its high-po rain tires.
I know the S-03 gives up a tiny smidge of dry grip to the S-02 variants but the rain traction is way better which is why I'd like to see it offered to OEMs. The plain S-02 is still good, just not the best tire Bridgestone has out now.
Okay it's my fault for derailing the thread...back to the GTO!

You have to wonder who Lutz had to murder at the Pontiac division to prevent the GTO from being cladded to death. I must say I don't have a negative thing to say about it. I may actually step foot on a Pontiac dealer for the first time since 1996 to look at this car. It's clean, sporty, relatively tight seams, nice proportions, very classy stitching on the gear shift, and except for the steering wheel, looks like someone took their time and put some effort into designing the car. The center dash cluster looks a little bland (should have an LCD with push-buttons for the climate control), but overall, a giant leap forward for GM and Pontiac. Albeit they had to import it, but it's better than nothing. Or worse yet, a Detroit design.
