Having this on the market might allow them to get in Bricklin's face if he brings the Chery copy. Seems like there must be easier ways though.
My impression is that the Daewoo's don't get very good mileage compared to, say, a Toyota. If the mileage isn't best in class, or very nearly, there would be no point.

(well maybe toyota can have 0 apr for as long as they want, but they won't, because they don't have to).

But the new small car derived from the Honda Fit (which is coming about a year from now for the US market) and the new Nissan Tiida (which may make to the US market as a 2007 model) are designed with modern safety standards in mind, so they won't be dangerous for passengers in the car.
