I think they're all ugly. No matter who makes them.... GM, Ford, Honda, Toyota.

The Scion xB has been a pretty good seller because not only is it relatively fuel efficient, it also had an amazing amount of interior space for such a small vehicle. Pity the car is still a bit underpowered, though.

Anyway, I still think the Maitz might not sell well against the upcoming Honda Fit derivative that's due in the USA about this time next year.

Default Chery

Having this on the market might allow them to get in Bricklin's face if he brings the Chery copy. Seems like there must be easier ways though.

My impression is that the Daewoo's don't get very good mileage compared to, say, a Toyota. If the mileage isn't best in class, or very nearly, there would be no point.

But if Chevy can sell them for $7,000 and 0% apr for 3 years, I can see many people have many good reasons to get one. Look at aveo, for $10,000! There are things a chevy can't do that toyota can, and vice versa (well maybe toyota can have 0 apr for as long as they want, but they won't, because they don't have to).

Ugly, unsafe junk. The American market is the wrong place for these.

I agree about the Daewoo-built Maitz--its small size could make it quite vulnerable in the USA with its numerous pickup trucks, SUV's, minivans and large tractor-trailer rigs on the freeways.

But the new small car derived from the Honda Fit (which is coming about a year from now for the US market) and the new Nissan Tiida (which may make to the US market as a 2007 model) are designed with modern safety standards in mind, so they won't be dangerous for passengers in the car.
