Default Looking for dyno tuning information

Hey guys im seeking your expert advice. I have a 1995 Integra GSR with the following mods: Aem CAI, DC 4 2 1 Sports Header, Aem Cam gears, Strut bar, Type-r exhaust system, tokico blues, eibach pro kit, Apex VAFC, shortshifter...and the previous owner claimed their was a type r cam in it but i heard that is impossilbe cause it wouldnt fit (someone verify that for me please). Im looking at boosting my horses and torque, by getting my cam gears and VAFC dyno tuned this will increase my power correct? any estimates on how much? and how much it would cost? and finally if their are any shops in the DC area you would recommend i get it tuned at? Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for you time.

itr cams will fit no problem. if you do have itr cams, tuning it on the dyno with gears and a vafc will get you some nice gains. nothing spectacular but its better than nothing. typical dyno fees are $100/hr. to give you an idea, a local shop here charges ~$125/hr for tuning.

I'm not sure if you knew or not but if you have a gsr then you have two cams.

I would first make sure you actually have Type R cams in there. And then go look around for dynos and tuners. To give you an idea, I took my gsr to get dyno tuned by a shop called Colletti Motorsports in Cincinnati and I was happy with the work done. The price there was $150 for the first hour, and then I think $100 or $75 for every hour after the first.

How long does it usually take to dyno tune? will most places know what to do, so someone who is oblivious like am, doesnt have do anything but shell out the cash?

what you want to have tuned determines how long you're on the dyno. figure for a basic bolt on car with cams and a vafc, 1-1.5 hrs. remember you have to make a pull, let the car cool down in between runs, make the changes, make another pull, repeat.

good, reputable shops will know what to do.

tips before you go to the dyno

I made 20 pulls adjusting mainly the VAFC. I thought it was a little too many, but did what was needed and let the guy tuning my car who knew what he was doing do it. It took about an hour and a half or so.
