Default Help Car Wont Start

Yesterday on my way home from the gas station my car just quit on me with my mom and uncle in the car. It made no strange noises , it just stopped while i was driving. We got out looked at it , had my mom try to start it , the engine turns over so no battery problems. My uncle thinks its either the timing belt or the fuel pump. All of my fuses are fine. WTF do i do , i just got this car last saturday and i dont have a lot of spare cash for **** like this to be happening. Thx in advance for any and all responses
Floyd
P.s. I already used search it had notin that directly shared the same situation with me , peace

U just bought the car? did you not have a trained Mechanic check it out from bumper to bumber? Dammmm that sucks. Well I had same situation. Tell me how many miles you have on the car? Last year (7/23/01) @105K miels my starter went out. Check to see if thats what wrong with your. Take it to Pep Boys and have them run a "charge/start system diag" ($17). If it is the starter it will run you $126 for labor and $150 for the starter.

it shouldnt be the starter if its cranking, tho i could be wrong...id look into the fuel pump or fuel system first, just sounds like its not getting any fuel, could be timing tho too....good luck

there is no way i would pay $276 for a starter to get fixed.
i had mine rebuilt, including labor it was less than $60.
don't get a new one ever unless u like to blow a lot of cash.
it's not the starter if the engine is cranking. probably something to do with the fuel, i know that if my teg is really low on fuel it doesn't like to fire right up. if it is the pump, change the filter in the tank @ the same time while u have the rear seat ripped out.
by the way, did u buy it from a dealer or a friend? cause if its from a dealer there is a 30day anti-lemon guarentee on every car.
let me know what happens though.

its your starter or your ignition.... check for that.. if it was oyur timing belt, your valves would of crashed into each other creating a very unpleasant noise... =X

I had a similar thing happen to me while I was on a trip 2 years ago in my 1991 Integra LS. I was driving at about 40 mph when the car just shut off. It turned out to be the ignitor. I had it replaced at an Acura dealership for under $200. My car had about 120k miles on it at that time. Correct me if I am wrong but since his car died while he was driving it can't be the starter that has gone. Hope this helps.

I agree, its just that ish always happends when you dont want it. I was on a trip about 400 miles away from home, had to return home the next day for jury duty and the car did not want to start, oh it was also Sunday afternoon (all shops closed). It always happens when you don't want it to. Just had to bite the bullet on that one. But i have life time warranty on this one

before we tell this guy that he has to get a new starter or ignition, how about starting with the basics?

check the following:
- spark plugs
- spark plug wires
- distributor cap
- rotor
- fuel filter

if you haven't replaced those in a while (or don't know if the previous owner ever did), it'd be wise to try them first.
