ok why not just get a full swap tranny and all instead of messing with all of that other stuff. i am supprised some of the otehr inteligent people havent suggested it yet. go with a gs-r swap it will be the best bang for the buck. and also if a b18 flows well enough to keep with the b16 then why do the major honda builders use the b16/b20 combo. just wondering because i just bought this book that explains alot of general stuff about honda building. i think it is called something along the lines of the honda builders guide and they say that this is the best setup because you get the best of both "worlds". you got torque and high rev. Just a question not to try and point out that anyone here is wrong.

The LS/VTEC hybrid is a very powerful beast when built right, although it lacks the superior oiling system of a B16A/18C block it is fun to build, gives the builder experience with the inside of the engine, it gives the driver respect from others when it is successfully completed (there are a lot less LS/VTEC and B20/VTEC engines out there then B18Cs) and as you build it, you build it to your spec (pistons, rods, head, manifolds, etc.) I am very pro-LS/VTEC, and if someone wants to try it, I will encourage them. Of course, I do not support those who slap stock head A onto stock block B and call it a day, LS/VTEC engines don't work like that.

Have you ever watched a noobie see one of them in person for the first time? The looks on their faces and the questions they ask are priceless

Don't believe everything you read. Look at dyno plots with similar setups, GSR head generally yields more power than a b16 head...of course this is just from dyno plots I've seen, with similar compression ratios and cam profiles.

well they have a dyno plot showing a b18c on a b18b that the torque is lower and then they have another dyno plot right next to it showing the flow rates of both heads and the b16 flows better. ill believe this author over other sources because he has been in it since he was a little boy and has had the chance to play with all diff types of setups and he has several setups that are pretty nice one of them being a 820 something whp b18c1 engine that is torboed and nitrous fed. i think that is pretty sick.

The numbers speak for themselves...the two heads flow almost identically in stock form...look at the chart.
