The LS/VTEC hybrid is a very powerful beast when built right, although it lacks the superior oiling system of a B16A/18C block it is fun to build, gives the builder experience with the inside of the engine, it gives the driver respect from others when it is successfully completed (there are a lot less LS/VTEC and B20/VTEC engines out there then B18Cs) and as you build it, you build it to your spec (pistons, rods, head, manifolds, etc.) I am very pro-LS/VTEC, and if someone wants to try it, I will encourage them. Of course, I do not support those who slap stock head A onto stock block B and call it a day, LS/VTEC engines don't work like that.
Have you ever watched a noobie see one of them in person for the first time? The looks on their faces and the questions they ask are priceless
