What do you guys think of an LS/v-tec swap on an automatic LS sedan? I'm thinking type-R head. Sorry guys its not a manual but i know how to drive one, i'm just tired of shifting gears. I need opinions because i heard it could be done.

Yeah, it can probably be done, but then there's the question of whether the automatic transmission can take the additional power brought on to it.

Very true. He could talk to Level 10 about getting one of their beefed up torque converters, but he will never see the power that he could with a manula transmission.

Yeah that was going to be my other question. I don';t think the automatic tranny can hang with it, but what can i do as far as transmissions? I would like to stick to the automatic but if the auto can't hang than i'll stick with the manual.

Hmm what's the fastest B series motor? Integra Type R at 195 hp/ 130 tq.?

1997-2001 H22A Prelude SiR (JDM) at 220 hp/163 tq
1997-2001 H22A Prelude Type S (JDM) at 200 hp/163 tq.
1992-1996 H22 Prelude VTEC (USDM) at 200 hp/ 161 tq.
1997-1998 H22A1 Prelude (USDM) at 195 hp/ 156 tq.
1994-1997 H22A Accord SiR (JDM) at 190 hp/ 152 tq.
1994-1996 H22A1 Prelude VTEC (USDM) at 190 hp/158 tq.

The H series not only dominates in horsepower but out torques any series also.

.... the H and B series are both good motors for the respective cars .... as for LS/VTEC the LS is not a car that was made to spin up to 8Ks ....the bottom end wasn't built for it, the heat (Honda has oil squirters and coolers for the GSR and ITR). The CRV block is a bit better since it has the oil squirters in place.

He's talking about the fastest all motor drag hondas, not stock power output. Erick's racing Civic uses a 2.0L gsr motor, with a FWD all motor world record of 10.59, only .01 off the overal all motor world record.

I was speaking about the fastest Hondas in the world, not stock engines.

BTW, if you look at dyno graphs rather than brake horsepower specs you'll be very disappointed.

H series engines have a much higher drivetrain power loss than B series. Most stock USDM h22 dynos I have seen are around 150hp, sometimes edging into 160s. Compared to a b18c5, which is usually 160/170...

Which H22's are you referring to that only put out 150/160 to the wheels? And what drivetrain loss percentage have you seen for each car?

USDM H22, 94+ Prelude, both base and SH.

Preludes seem to hover at about a flat-low 20% drivetrain loss, with a couple close to 25%. Integras seem more in the 15-17% range, with a couple close to or at 20%. (I've seen one stock GSR dyno in the low 130s. :barf:)
