I had my G1 for 2 years. It was a super sleeper. Light, quick, and tons of fun!! I hated that i couldnt ever get tuning parts for it. the K&N filter that K&N listed didnt fit, so i had to return it. there wasnt any SRI either. I had to make a trip to home depot and fabricate myself a CAI.

then I got into a big cruncher, and walked away without a scratch.
If i could have found a G1 in good condition i would have picked up anohter. But then i found a G3,

All USDM G1's use the D16A1. This engine shares almost full interchangability between the browntop ZC. The 88-89's electronics are more along the line of the blacktop ZC, however still based on the browntop block.

In short, it is possible to rebuild a D16A1 as a ZC or replace it with a ZC alltogether.

It is the same basic engine as a D16A1 with minor variations (cams, pistons, intake manifold, and a few other piddly things) that was rated at 135hp in brown valve cover form and 129 in the newer black valve cover version. Basically the same engine with a higher output.

thanks KAI,

D16A1 looks so similar to the B-series engines. I highly doubt it, but wouldnt it be possible to do like a D-vtec conversion?. I know the tranny mounts are different for d and b, but other than that they look very similar. the CRx's D had SOHC, Integra's D got DOHC

when i get the damn thing running again i'll post some pics, and dazzle you with a mint 89' teg hehe :P no rust, no dents, minor keyed door, perfect interior. if the door wasn't keyed it could be sittin on a showroom floor somewhere..

What exactly do you mean here? If you're talking about a "Mini-me" SOHC VTEC head swap, no, you can't do that to the D16A1 block.

If you mean a full B-Series swap, it is very possible but also very expensive requirig custom mounts, a custom shift linkage, custom wiring, etc. I am about to preform the twin of this swap, a B18A into an 87 Civic.
