Please don't say nitrous is completely bad..

I plan on going all motor ls/vtec, and I am thinking about putting a small direct port nitrous system.

I have considered a turbo, but decided that for me, all motor is a better option, because, personally, with a turbo, it is

#1 too much money for me now (i'm still in high school)
#2 too fast; my car is a daily driver, I LIKE losing races, it gives me something to work for. If I won every race (with a well built turbo setup, which I would do, I would win all the races in my area)

So after careful consideration, I have decided that a turbo isn't for me, and since I don't want to be extremely fast all the time, it would be nice to have a little boost (excuse the pun) when I am racing the local v8s, porches, etc. just to show them what my $2,700 car can do.

So basically what I'm saying that turbos aren't for everyone, and nitrous is a good alternative.

AND LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID, IT'S NITROUS, NOT NOSSSSS. People who call it nos do not know what they're talking about, it's like calling camshaft a crower, or all wheels volks, it just makes you same stupid, and shows your lack of knowledge and ignorance.

First of all, I wouldn't go LS/Vtec. You said yourself you were in High School and didn't want to spend a lot of money. Getting a Vtec head is a lot more than you think and could run around 2 grand after parts and installation. Plus, I doubt nitrous and LS/Vtec is a good combination. People with the Vtec head on their stock LS's have said they've had problems. Nitrous wouldn't help. Solution: Look around for a deal on a low to mid-grade turbo package(add about 50-80 hp). You should end up saving money with the turbo over LS/Vtec plus a nitrous system. And your car won't fall apart as fast either. The only downfall is that you might end up winning every race depending on where you live.

I was responding to the blanket statement of nitrous being faster for cheaper.

well, completely off the subject of which is better, my friend has a 94 GSR w/ 145k miles on it and is running a 100 shot direct port NOS kit. At first he was a complete nitrous junky going through a bottle every 3 days, he's calmed down now to about a bottle a week. His car runs fine, and He's ran this for about a year. Nuff said.

how is nitrous a mod? By putting better oil, better gas, etc in your car, will actually make it run better therefore probably adding a few hp. I wouldn't call that a mod.
mod·i·fy

To change somewhat the form or qualities of; to alter somewhat; as, to modify a contrivance adapted to some mechanical purpose.

Do B18 engines come with a nitrous setup from stock? No

Do you have to modify parts of the engine so that you can use nitrous? Yes

If you have to modify parts of the engine to use it, how is it not a mod?

You don't need to tap your engine block to add better oil, you don't need to upgrade your fuel lines to add better fuel.

Exactly qtiger! Your shaky little finger won't know when to hit the button on the track, psylas!
Most N2O setups are WOT activate, not button activated. Put the copy of the F&F down.

Its not an obsession with N2O, its an anoyance that people go around bashing something they don't understand. Is there a reason why professional drag cars use ungodly amount of N2O in their cars? Maybe because it is effective.

yes those engines get rebuilt after ever race, but there is a difference between the shots they use, and a 55 shot :P

100 shot on stock engine??? If he's running 100 shot on a stock engine I wouldn't count on it lasting much longer.
