newgsrdriver just reminded me....when I was in the market for my GC+koni yellows, I had the opportunity to purchase the "new" Tein SS for just a little more than my current setup. The main reason I ended up getting the GC's and Koni yellows was that I saw practically every bay area autocrosser running this setup (of course with custom rates and valving) and figured it was the more proven product.

Of course now there's a backlash against pricey custom GC+koni setups, and more and more folks are running the "true" coilover setups.

In my opinion, the main advantage of the GC/koni setup is that you can service them fairly quickly and painlessly. I haven't heard much feedback regarding Tein's customer service; Zeal USA seems to be pretty prompt on service calls but those are a class above the Teins.

Same with the illumina's. The have a liftime warranty only if dropped less than 1.5" and you use the dust covers. I don't really know how they would know how far of a drop you have on your car though. I used to have a set of sprint coilover's. Illumina's with my coilovers made for about the worst setup imaginable.

I had GC ccoil overs and Tokico Illuminas lowered 4+",car was way too stiff, jouncy, bouncy, oscillated like crazy. Very scary. Removed coil overs ,returned stock springs with Illuminas. Car is great. I love the quick easily adjustable shocks. Smooth ride, I like it's stock springs. Illuminas are great.
Enjoy

Well the sleeve did not sit properly on the bottom perge so the spring rubbed slightly on the shock. Also I had to run my car slammed to the ground, about 5", every time I would go over a bump the spring would bottom out if it were any higher. I ended up getting sportline and I could not be happier. My coilovers were crap though. They worked well woth the stock shocks, but not the performance ones.

My dawg Brett said that the best-handling car he had ever driven had the Tociko Illumina 5-Ways with Skunk2 Springs. Can anyone else vouch for this combo?

What did Stevieteg mean by "And rear shocks on teg's are almost always impossible to get off."?

they're not impossible to get off, but chances are, they're going to be a real pain in the ass. the rear LCA bolts have a tendency to seize in place. me and my pop had to drill both of mine out.
