well...that all depends what he wants to do: N/A, Turbo, Supercharge, Nitrous. If it has the B18B1 (LS) motor then he can do turbo for max power - superchargers don't give good power on those weak motors. If it has the B18C1 (GSR) then he can do N/A, Turbo, Supercharger, Nitrous but turbo would be best again for high horsepower. You may have to lower the compression depending on his power goals. And finally if its the championship white 97 Type-R  i'd just leave it alone and do mild bolt-ons OR you can make that an N/A monster or use nitrous. Turbo and supercharge may require replacement of internals to lower the compression.

Mike Kojima, an editor at Sport Compact Car magazine, wrote a fantastic book titled "Honda/Acura Engine Performance". The ISBN number is 1-55788-384-X. $17.95 MSRP
:bowdown:GET IT. IT ROCKS.

He outlines every type of motor mod strategy for D, B and H-series motors. Very informative. It should help your friend decide what kind of tuning choices he should make to suit his driving style & driving environment.

As an example, one idea that I'm kicking around for my 97 LS is a supercharged 2.5L stroker H22 VTEC, inspired by R&D Racing's 2.6 H22 N/A.

It's all about the torque baby:naughty: !

I agree the book rocks, I got it too, but it doesn't go into depth about swaps for Integras. Only Civics. The rest of the book is great for general all-motor/supercharger/turbo information.

The best engine to put in the teg is (arguably) the Integra Type R engine (b18c5) but costs over $4500 for the swap (engine, tranny, ecu). The H22a from the Prelude has the same power (200 crank hp) and more torque but leans backward which throws the balance of the car off a little bit. The swap is more complicated and requires custom fabricated mounts and I don't know what else. I would go for a simple GS-R swap and then decide what you wanna do after that.

yes it will fit.
hope you dont use your air conditioner that much beacuse that will need to be removed.. power steering also.

but to answer your question.
an h22a is 220hp
an h22 is 200hp.

not sure of the torque numbers, but they're up there!
H22A comes with a hydrolic tranny and L S D!!!!!
High Revs!!!

the h22a is a beast.
definitely reccomend it.
Just hope you can swap out motors and do repairs yourself becuase alot of shops dont mess with any kind of motor swap and if they do..they'll charge you an arm and a leg because it will be a ***** doing repairs due to the motor being oversized compared to the b-series motors.

Also what you could do is.
get an h23a1 non vtec block off of a prelude.
drop a vtec h22a head and a hydrolic h22 tranny with an LSD..

boy that would be a monsterrrrr!!!!!!!

good luck.

H22a comes with a LSD??????? That's news to me.

Turbo B18b's are far from weak; the b-series engines are perfectly fine to mod. But if you really want to swap, the H22a is a good choice.

An alternative to the H22a is the cheaper B20.

Before you get the idea that you're going to make 800 whp, note that guys with 300 whp turbo b18b Integra's have considerable issues hooking up. Having insane power on a front-wheel driver is a quick way to ensure big $$$ is spent on finding traction.
