Default Help: Excessive Play in Steering Wheel

Hi,

I've been noticing that my steering has a lot of play near the center before the car actually starts to turn. I've heard of this problem before; do I need to tighten a cable or something? Thanks

oh, and car has 30,000 miles

I think it's probably just a symptom of power steering. It could be the tie-rod end bushings, but not likely on a car w/ only 30K miles. If you still have a warranty, have a dealer check it out.

Be prepared to hear your pitman arms need replacing as well as the tie rod ends. Take it to a front end shop before you wrap yourself around a telephone pole. Good Luck.
