I highly suggest looking at the links I posted, pay close attention to the pictures of the wiring. With the symptoms your having, one of those is probably reversed. I went through the same situation when I installed mine. Like Prov. said, it isn't good to play trial and error with your ECU. If you have a Helms, or Haynes manual, check the wiring schematics. They will list the exact colors of what connector goes where.

The EVAP purge solenoid and IAB system has connectors that will plug into the IAT, and the MAP, TPS, and IACV are also the same.

I found it useful to use a bionic ear to listen around the engine to pin point where a sound maybe coming from. You can also take an old stethoscope and cut the end off and put a metal tube there with some tape and that works too.
