Default Grinding noise...

When I apply the brakes, I hear a nasty grinding noise coming from the front of the car... The steering wheel feels like if if I have a flat... I thought it was the brakes, but checked that out and they all seem fine... Also the brake pedal feels bumpy when that happens... Any ideas what the problem can be? Thanks...

how did you check the brakes? sounds like maybe your rotors are warped.

Looked and inspected rotors and inspected the brake pads by taking them off and they are still new. no warping or cracks on rotors... Maybe its driveshaft related?

strange... really sounds brake-related but from your inspection looks like its not. don't see how it'd be an axle issue if its only doing it during braking...

any add'l info?

Sounds like a definite brake problem! It doesn't sound suspension related anyhow. I would not visually inspect it, but try rotating the rotors on the spindle, and eye it from the side. Just make sure the 2 flat head screws are holding the rotors tight to the spindle. In some cases you may have one longer bolt holding the caliper bracket to the spindle, also causing it to grind when turning. Also, check for any grinding chips around the areas.

I've spinned the disks while tire was off and they spin freely... Nothing gets in the way of it... When it happens, it sounds like the pads are rocks, juat a nasty grinding noise, and alot of vibrations on the pedals and steering wheel... Thanks for the help guys, really appriciate it..

I don't see anything else it could be, besides brakes. Sometimes a slightly warped rotor isn't visible. Are your caliper brackets and bolts tight? Do you have a seized caliper? Your pads could have "hot spots" on them. (I can't think of any other way to put that)

Sometimes bad tires will cause a vibration in the steering wheel, but i've never heard of it affecting the brake pedal.

I changed the brake pads(OEM) a little over a year ago, they still look new... I never repalced the rotors since I got the car two years ago.... All the bolts are on tight. Everything else seems to be in good shape, no bending, warping, cracks, etc...... The tires are brand new, just bought them....
Thanks
