Default GSR or LS

For what's it's worth, I would suggest rebuilding the LS motor for a turbo
set-up. The increased torque and benefit of the turbo would more than
make up for the loss of V-tech. I just bought a turbo rebuild for my son's
teg for $1400.00. The engine was rebuilt with the eventual addition of the
turbo in mind.

Good Luck

yes, but it still doesnt replace the ammount of power lost when you lose vtec in a similar turbo setup.

and it's not that you just lose power, your torque curve is less adequate as well.

it soudns like you know something about engines, so to break it down easily, VTEC is just a way of putting two on-demand selectable cams onto a single cam. so you can have a high rev cam and a low rev cam, and as you can imagine any setup benefits from this.

as for the extra torque it is useless, because the LS redlines lower than the gsr any small torque increase isnt noticable. the lower redline means they have to make up for the loss in rotational speed with different gear ratios-- this is where horsepower is useful in comparing (as it takes revs into consideration)

the idea of horsepower and torque is plainly stated: look at horsepower numbers when comparing two separate engines, and torque curves when comparing the same engine.

There is so much misinformation in this thread, it makes me sick.

People, please do your research before giving advice on a subject you know nothing about.

Read the thread, for christ's sake. :squint:
The original poster has a GSR, not an LS.

We're talking B18C1 motors.. not the B18B1.
Besides, your premise is false.

A stock GSR head will always out-flow a stock LS head. The only way to get close the gap with an LS head is to run a higher-lift, zero-overlap "turbo" cam (such as the set from Crower).

Thank you for engaging an argument that takes this thread in the wrong direction. :a: We're not debating the merits of F/I for the LS and GSR motors; we're talking about a budget turbo build for one person's DC2 Integra.

Besides, we had a protracted [and highly misinformed] argument over turbo-LS setups vs turbo-GSR setups a couple of years back. I do not want to see that argument rekindled. If y

Hell with it, this thread is cooked. :squint:
