yes, but it still doesnt replace the ammount of power lost when you lose vtec in a similar turbo setup.

and it's not that you just lose power, your torque curve is less adequate as well.


it soudns like you know something about engines, so to break it down easily, VTEC is just a way of putting two on-demand selectable cams onto a single cam. so you can have a high rev cam and a low rev cam, and as you can imagine any setup benefits from this.

as for the extra torque it is useless, because the LS redlines lower than the gsr any small torque increase isnt noticable. the lower redline means they have to make up for the loss in rotational speed with different gear ratios-- this is where horsepower is useful in comparing (as it takes revs into consideration)

the idea of horsepower and torque is plainly stated: look at horsepower numbers when comparing two separate engines, and torque curves when comparing the same engine.
