Honestly, not really. Maybe a little, but you have so much more of a chance of sucking water into that thing and ruining your motor. Plus, the mount point of the thing is made to make it look like you have a FMIC (turbo) which is lame imho. Having it there does you no good because, from the ones that I've seen, they put a plexiglass cover over the filter so you don't get any better air flow into the filter to simulate 'ram air'. It's a good thing they do cover it though because any road debris/large insects would puncture the filter element rendering it useless and actually harmful to your engine.

The only intakes that I've seen that might give you a little more power and are still safe from the elements would be a short ram (AEM, J's, etc.) intake or the Comptech Icebox.

You could even go so far as to just use the OEM tube that goes from the OEM filter box to the intake manifold and stick a cone filter on the end. I did that for a while...

Bolt-ons really won't give you much more than a couple extra whp and much more noise. If you want to make power you're going to either have to bolt up a turbo or rip the motor apart and install some better internals (higher compression for an N/A app).

That's my $0.02.

Wow never thought a cold air intake could dammage your engine if you suck H20 up... I dont want to risk that, thats why i am doing resurch before i buy a intake to see pros and cons of all them so would a Short ram be better if i dont want to risk the H20 in Engine? Right now all i did was remove Stock airbox and installed a Bigger racing filter... I noticed a difference is it worth it to even get a short ram with this probaly would be better right?

Pictures what i did now would a short ram be better?

you need to flip those pics around. had me going wtf for a sec. h:

you only run the risk of sucking water into the engine with a cai if the filter is completely submerged. water splashing onto the filter wont cause any damage. if you're really worried, use bypass valve. they work at the expense of sacrificing a few hp.

Results of hydrolock (this is my old D15B7):

sucked up water after driving through a very large puddle that I didn't see during a downpour in AL - had an AEM CAI without a bypass (they didn't make them yet).

I had a AEM CAI on my 98 ls......I hydrolocked it twice. That car has been through it all and never gave me problems, I miss it lol.

Changed oil/plugs/filter......started up fine with no problems. I believe it depends on how fast you are driving when you suck up water.

High rpm's through a big puddle = disaster (see pictures above)

I have never had any issues with my AEM cai. You just have to watch where you are going.

Dood, get rid of the intake you installed. They are garbage.

You can't always see virtual lakes when you're driving down a dark, poorly lit street. Trust me... I know.
