you need to flip those pics around. had me going wtf for a sec. h:

you only run the risk of sucking water into the engine with a cai if the filter is completely submerged. water splashing onto the filter wont cause any damage. if you're really worried, use bypass valve. they work at the expense of sacrificing a few hp.
