Default damn sensor

my CEL light has been on for awhile, n so i jumped the little connecter under the glove box n it gave me code 54... didnt knoe what that was, bought a haynes book and i found code...*crankshaft fluctuation sensor no signal*... so i kept reeadin on how to tell if its bad, found connector to sensor n used an ohmmeter to check it, the needle moved but i dont know how to read it...i called acura dealer to see how much a new sensor was, n the person told me that its the same thing as a TDC sensor and it goes for bout 128 +tax... i was wonderin if thats true... oh i also took it to a import repair shop in my town and he told me that its a bad dizzy... so i bought me a dizzy.... is there anyway that i can get my damn CEL to go away... oh i tried disconnecting battery terminals for half hour, didn't work....or do i have to buy the new sensor... if anyone could give me more info bout this damn sensor, i would ceeply appreciate it... oh yea i forgot i have a 97 rs teg wit OBD-II...

humor me, where did you find the sensor? its not in the distributor. its on the crankshaft, behind the pully bolted to the oil pump. its a very tight sqeeze to even unplug the thing, let alone check it. my jdm b20 i installed in my car didnt come with one, so i just left it unplugged. it doesnt hurt your engine at all, people run without those for a long time without any problems. theres 2 ways to get rid of the CEL: get a new sensor installed, or go OBD1.

and its not the same thing as the TDC sensor

humor you... haha okay so there once was a man from nantuckit.... no i did find the sensor behind the crank pulley and it was a very tight squeeze tryin get it unplugged... well the other reason that im tryin to get rid of my CEL light is smog... i passed everything excpet that part becuz my light was on...it said it wasn't fuctioning rite...so i failed... if i go OBD1, what do i have to get, is it like ecu, or just a harness, and do i have to make major adjustments... and i kinda figured that it wasn't the same as a TDC sensor, dumbass lady... is there any shops in cen cal that sells these sensor or do i have to go through dealer???

well you can change it yourself, but getting the crank pulley of is the bitch. it might be cheaper to go obd1. you say 130 for the sensor plus labor to get it installed, or install yourself. to go obd1, theres a sponser for this site that sells the harness for 75 shipped, then you have to buy a 94-95 obd1 ecu-which will vary in cost.

no it was just 130 for the sensor, im not even sure how much it would cost for labor to install...i'd probably just do it myself.... ok so if i go OBD1, and get a 94-95 ecu, does it have to be out of a teg or can i use a different honda ecu

it needs to be p75 ls ecu. you cant run with any other ecu. if you go obd1, you might gain a few hp plus its emissions friendly. a few other obd2 sensors on the car(which are mainly for emissions) will be obsolete.

heres a good article on ecu's....read up before you decide

Woah...hold on now.

You want to spend $75 on an OBD2-to-OBD1 harness, nevermind the cost of the ECU... to avoid spending $130 on a sensor?

The number's don't add up. :eh:

Replace the dead sensor and be done with it, I say.
