engine "gasping" need help
I drive a 94LS and my car kinda did that one day on the road. it stumbled up and down and just shut off and never started back up. U said they replaced the cap and button. I replaced the whole distributor itself and it fixed the problem. have u checked ur timing? and make sure all the plug wires are in the right spot....
I have not checked the timing but that sounds like a good place to look. I did replace the entire dist.. The old ones baring was shot. I thought I had it with that but it kept on doing the same thing. I will recheck the wires as well. I will update.
I was told by my shop that the wires looked ok. I am starting to wonder if they really checked them or just don't know anything about Honda's. I think I will get the wires and plugs in the morning and give that a try. Thank you.
I just got my car out of the shop and it turns out the oil light was turning on because of a loose connection with the wires or the sensor, thank god. My car is running fine now for the most part. It just worries me when i go on the highway and see the rpm needle bouncing around more than it should at around 3500 rpm's (about 70 mph) because thats how it all started in the first place, real subtle.
how much would it cost to replace the distributor? I'll probly have to do that eventually

i just found out that back in 96 there was a recall on the distributor for 92 integra's. does acura provide a discount to have the distributor replaced? do i have to go to an acura dealer or can i go to the same place i just went to? does anyone know about how much it would cost?
Dont know about that, but my 92 integra used to do the "I am not gonna start now because I am a moody bitch" and 15 minutes later fire right up, I changed the throttle position sensor and it was like a new car, ran way better and didnt die at random any more until that one went bad (both used) A new tps isnt available by itself, honda sells you a new throttle body with one on it because they are still mad we bombed the shit out of them. I got a whole throttle body for 30 bucks off ebay. The fuel relay is what people kept saying was wrong with my car, but nobody can find it, its not in the right kick panel on my 92. Nobody ever found it. Under the right side of the dash, right above the kickpanel is a small female plug that is not plugged into anything and has two wires in it. Shut your car off, put a paperclip into the plug to make the two connect, then turn your key to on, as far as it will go without starting it. Count the blinks of the check engine light. One slow flash with 3 fast will be 13, two slow followed by 3 fast would be 23, etc etc etc. Then take those codes it throws out and get back on the internet and do some searching. A mechanic will charge you around 75-100 dollars for doing the exact same thing to diagnose your car. Thats how I fixed my car and tracked down the problem. If you cant find the codes you can pm me and I will help you out. My car is so unreliable that I hooked the check engine wires to a toggle switch so I can check it easily, makes me wish it had a carburetor and no computer, my 36 year old car never dies on me. Oh well
