Default looking at a 2000 GSR.. help

it's got 90k miles imma offer the guy 8 or 9 and go from there.

what are the intervals for a gsr of this age... what gets replaced when and so on.

if i need to replace a water pump at 100k or something i'm going to take that into concideration when buying the car you know...

what should have been replaced so far/anything else you guys know whould be great...

With any used car that you obtain without maintanence records, you should always change the timing belt and water pump. The scheduled interval is 90k miles, so if it hasn't been, it is about time.

It is much better to be safe than sorry with the timing belt on these close interference motors that are notorious for bending valves if it snaps.

it sounds like the car is his baby not just him saying that but the fact htat he's asking who the car is for and how he nearly flipped when i said i let my sister drive my car now asking if she would be driving this, so i'm hoping he got everything replaced that needed to be.

i'll ask him if he has the records....

That is a great idea. Detailed maintenance records are always a great selling point just so you know what the car has been through and you can take off right where he left off with maintenance.

Even if he doesn't have the maintenance records, he should know off the top of his head whether or not the timing belt was changed since he is definitely due for it.

Yeah, 11k is way too much for that much mileage, regardless of whether it was babied or not.
