looking at a 2000 GSR.. help
it depends on where you live and how readily available the teg gsr is. where i live the gsr is a tougher car to get ahold of, so, the price is higher than somewhere that theyre more abundant. i payed 11500 for mine, same as the one you described, 57k, black on black leather 17" wheels, stock EVERYTHING(a good selling point in my eyes since you arent depending on work that some knucklehead has done himself). i have a 92 teg too and ive had it for about three years now, high miles and still runs and drives fine, nothing more than normal wear and tear maintenance.the b-series motors are in my opinion the best line honda has. high revs and low maintenance, dont look back man, just get it-you wont regret it.
i looked at the car today and it wasnt just babied it was MINT, kinda had me dissapointed because the price is too high for that many miles.
there are only 2 physical blemishs on the car, the tip on the rear which is easily replaceable was dented from him accidentally backing into something and there is a small, ding on the passenger door that is hardly noticible (i was even looking throughly and i didnt catch it but my dad did)... i'll post a pic or two later, he had to go and i only got 2 shots and none of the dings... GSR's are hard to find around ehre they are like 2 hours away....

this thing is showroom, i've seen cars that come out of storage with less wear than this.
before you offer $10000, consider that this ride blue books at $9570 in excellent condition. you dont want to start at your absolute highest bid (especially if it's more than the car is worth), cus he'll still try to get you to meet him in the middle. if you say no then he'll give you this "i'm not really in a big hurry to sell it" line and then you'll be considering paying considerably more than it's worth, or walking away.
i'd say offer straight blue-book, assuming that the car comes with complete current records. if not, deduct from there. bring up any and everything you can find wrong with the car to make your case as to why straight bluebook is fair for both of you. since it has an alarm you might give him about $100 headroom for it. just dont get suckered into buying this car no matter how much it costs, because he is not ineterested in giving you a good deal, as nice as he may seem.
BTW, edmunds.com gave an estimate of $9317 for this car in the best condition rating they have. this was based on my zip code, 97701 (bend, oregon, population about 60,000)

I wouldn't pay any more than 10k, so if he is jerking you around, look elsewhere, regardless of it is in showroom condition.
what i did was ask used car dealers in my area. the answer was close to the same everywhere i went. a gs-r!?! thatll go for like 13K around here with low miles like that. kelly blue book, nada...all those books are just guides, nothing more. yea, sure maybe i payed more than the car was worth to one of you guys here, but the hassle of finding another one just like the one i have without driving three hours only to find a car i dont like, i dont deal well with things like that. im willing to pay the price for convenience...
