pager alarms (LCD remotes) might sound like the solution to break ins, but..
1. who knows if your car will be gone by the time u show up. thieves can get past almost any alarm, i know how to and im not even a thief.
2. will u really run out to your car every time it goes off? in the middle of a business meeting or class, or what if a car with a loud exhaust cruises by?
3. i have a compustar alarm and ive noticed that when im in my school, i dont get reception from my car. just like my cell phone. so u wont even know that ur alarm is going off since ur remote cannot receive signals from the activated alarm.

i think its best just to park in safe places and to not try to show off too much, like blasting the subwoofers. my friend got his car stolen 3 days after i sold and installed my subs/amp into his car.

I'm begining to think it had to have been someone that knew me or knows what I have. I mean my cars not flashy. It has a DC exhaust buts its old and dont shine any more. I have pleanty of dents, cars hardly ever washed, stock on the outside (wheels, springs, what have you.) I did have a H-A.net sticker on the side (maybe thats why they broke in? LOL) but my deck has the hide away face and I have tint so it basically hidden well, subs are in the trunk, and my navi was in the glovebox, nothing was showing. Maybe one day when I was coming out of the car someone walking by got a glimps of what I had in there? Cant dwell on it any longer though. I'm now looking for a whole new car, sick of the LS. Either a GS-R or S2000 is next.

According to me, 90% of all car robberies which involve loss of car stereo had to have happned because the driver of the car was blasting his stereo down n up the street. And it is highly possibible it is someone in your own neighbourhood.

Sorry to hear about you car, i'd be bouncing off the walls if that happened to me.

After reading this thread, and realizing I only have PL/PD (Liability) on mine, I called my insurance and got Fire/Theft added to my Integra (they just have to wait to get pictures of the car to see the condition, so im mailing those out tomorrow). Its only $20 more a month, well worth it in my case, especially since I have some plans for audio in my car...

I agree on you with all your points. Unfortunately I fall in that other 10%. To begin with my system doesnt have the ability to be blasted. Not serios system at all and I also I'm 30 and rarely turn it up high at all. I've already gotten past it now. I'll be looking into getting full coverage on it too. I also found out I dont have Towing on it either.

Question...my teg was broken in on the same exact window when it was stolen, key question is why do they break in through that window and how do they get to the lock from there?

yeah my friend had a 89 buick with a 1400 watt amp and 3 12's, components and a headunit and it all got stolen....theres no way someone randomly decided to take his car...they must have heard his system a couple times and decided to break into the car

They used a long branch and pushed it through the window and flipped the power door lock switch up using the tip of the branch and unlocked all the doors.

.... I doubt that's why... seems excessive when they could just break the normal window, and unlock it with their hands, unles maye they're worried about setting off a crappy alarm only hooked up to those windows??

Well how i see it is that the driver and pass windows are wobbly, since not secured to the frame as the 1/4 panel windows are, so less chance of the thief hurting him self. small break, less glass...i dunno, "im not a thief"
