Vtec/non Vtec
itll cost mayb about 1000 more.. im guessing. look for a good deal. and the kbb price for gsrs is off because of the demand. gotta add a couple hundred to it. how muhc money do you have to spend on your car?
oh yea, dont get auto transmission. it lags like a mofo and is boring to drive..my friend has one, its kinda like turbo lag except n/a lag as we call it (the throttle response is horrible)

Mikesta21, purchasing a vehicle is no small undertaking. you seem to know very little concerning the integra, and their different motors, what the car is built for etc.
first off, do some homework, their is a plethora of information covering this topic not only on this website, but all over the net.
it all depends on how much racing your actually going to do, how much money you plan to invest. yes the gsr is better hands down. but thats like comparing a stock WRX to an STI, they use different things to get different results. the LS is a good motor and car for everyday driving and a good investment if you plan to build it up in the future. their is a REASON the gsr is more expensive. their IS a REASON people spend the extra money to get one when they could go 2g's cheaper and get an LS.
the GSR comes from the factory geared towards people who have speed and fun factor in their minds opposed to simple cheap town car.
a little logic and common sense might have saved you some time here man, just read up, good luck purchasing your car, but dont let EGO get in the way! get a car that you can maintain with your budget.

You should take insurance into account as well. The monthly rates for a LS vs. GSR are almost enough incentive to buy the LS and boost. I pay over $2k a year for full insurance on my GSR and I have no tickets and no accidents. Just think about it and make an educated decision that you can live with down the road if things get tough.

I guess the fact that I have had my license for 2 1/2 years and am 19 years old would have some factor in that too.

Yeah, I'm 25, will be married (May 21st) and have several cars, motorcycle and my Apt through my insurance company. It really helps bring the rates down.
So yes go with the GSR.Definately dont just jump out there if you dont feel you can afford the GSR but its nothing out here NA thats more fun than the VTEC in a 4cyl....IMO. Take your time

well, you see, just becauseim a high school student, it doesnt mean i havent done my hw, haha. ive been looking, and the base model/LS have the 142hp engine, while the GS-R goes w/ the 170, and the out of my league type R has 195 if i remember correctly, but its not just the horsepower, close gear ratio transmission and specs that decides a car.
Insurance, as you guys mentioned, is VERY important. This is my first car, and i get my license in july,(workin ahead) and to insure a 98 CIVIC EX rite when i get my license is 3300 a year, mainly because i live in MAssachusetts(rates are horrible, geico and such dont work here) so if im gonna pay high premiums, why not get a better car?
I know that the GS-R is faster, but howw much faster? Does it make a huuge difference, is the difference worth the price difference. I'm just asking to better prepare myself for when I try them out myself.
KBB prices seem to be offf. I have a family friend that is a dealer, so he will probably hook me up w/ what i ask him at a reasonable price, and it will be mechanically sound(yay)
I'm just trying to get as many opinions as I possibly can to prepare me for what to look for while I go and try out these cars.
If you want an Integra, either way you go is a good investment! My cousin has a '94 LS and has almost 200K miles on it. I have a '98 GSR and have over 100K miles. Our cars still run well. Both our cars are 5-speeds (GSR only come with 5-speed), both are 4-door sedans. I recommend that if you are getting an Integra, go with the 4-door, since you will be going places with friends, so it is more comfortable, and insurance is cheaper on a 4-door than a 2-door hatch. (the hatch is faster in the 1/4 by approx .2 seconds both have same mph)
My personal opinion is that the GSR is more fun to drive, just because after 5500 rpms it takes off in every gear including 5th!!! That is stock!! It also handles better through the corners. However, if you live where there are not any fun twisties to drive on, and you will be sitting in traffic all day, the LS is the better deal.
The gas mileage is about the same, my best run was from Columbus, OH to Tampa, FL (around 1,000 miles) in 12hrs and 45 minutes including stops for gas and restrooms, while averaging 35mpg!!!!!! If anyone can beat that please let me Know.
With the gas prices rising, a 13.2 gallon tank that can take you over 350 miles per tank in the city with the A/C cranking, is a friend to the wallet! However with the 10:1 compression in the GSR, prepare for 90+ octane vs 87 in LS.
Good luck with your search, I know 4 doors are very hard to find and more expensive, but parts switch out with hatches except exhaust - 4 door is longer, so stick with your budget and you can't go wrong with an Integra!!
