first off, do some homework, their is a plethora of information covering this topic not only on this website, but all over the net.
it all depends on how much racing your actually going to do, how much money you plan to invest. yes the gsr is better hands down. but thats like comparing a stock WRX to an STI, they use different things to get different results. the LS is a good motor and car for everyday driving and a good investment if you plan to build it up in the future. their is a REASON the gsr is more expensive. their IS a REASON people spend the extra money to get one when they could go 2g's cheaper and get an LS.
the GSR comes from the factory geared towards people who have speed and fun factor in their minds opposed to simple cheap town car.
a little logic and common sense might have saved you some time here man, just read up, good luck purchasing your car, but dont let EGO get in the way! get a car that you can maintain with your budget.
well, you see, just becauseim a high school student, it doesnt mean i havent done my hw, haha. ive been looking, and the base model/LS have the 142hp engine, while the GS-R goes w/ the 170, and the out of my league type R has 195 if i remember correctly, but its not just the horsepower, close gear ratio transmission and specs that decides a car.
Insurance, as you guys mentioned, is VERY important. This is my first car, and i get my license in july,(workin ahead) and to insure a 98 CIVIC EX rite when i get my license is 3300 a year, mainly because i live in MAssachusetts(rates are horrible, geico and such dont work here) so if im gonna pay high premiums, why not get a better car?
I know that the GS-R is faster, but howw much faster? Does it make a huuge difference, is the difference worth the price difference. I'm just asking to better prepare myself for when I try them out myself.
KBB prices seem to be offf. I have a family friend that is a dealer, so he will probably hook me up w/ what i ask him at a reasonable price, and it will be mechanically sound(yay)
I'm just trying to get as many opinions as I possibly can to prepare me for what to look for while I go and try out these cars.
