Default engine swap

I posted this in the hybrid section with no help so hopefully someone can help me here.
I have the B18a engine in my tegra and was thinking about going with the B16 JDM swap. What are your opinions on this? Is this going to be a direct bolt on or do I have to mod stuff?
In the long run which will have more power potential? If anyone has any other ideas all help is appreciated.

It really depends on what you want and how much money you have. I think the B16a has more potential, is pretty quick as is and is pretty cheap as far as swaps go. The B16a was actually stock on JDM G2 Integras so it fits naturally. The hard part is wiring up the VTEC from what I've read. See the "Teg Tips" at www.g2ic.com for a write-up. Or if you use "search" for B16a on this site or the other one you will find a lot of info. Hope this helps a little. Also, check this site out:

forget the B16. im not knocking the B16 cuz its a good engine with good potential, but if i were paying the funds to get an engine swap, i wouldnt go B16. ideally, i would get a B18C if i could afford it. but if money is somewhat tight for you, get a B20Z or JDM B20B. sure it has no vtec, but stock you will still hang with stock GSR's... and thats with the stock LS tranny. put on a GSR tranny on that engine and you'll be even quicker. plus you dont have to deal with wiring up the VTEC.

but to answer your question, if you do get the B16, itll drop right in.

How does this hang with a stock GSR when it has only 126 or 146 HP (if i'm not mistaken)? I do like the torq that it has at the lower RPM's but this is going to be my car for street racing so i'm more concerned with the higher revs that the B16 will give me with a red line of about 8k, again if i'm not mistaken.

First stay of the street if you are racing...very bad idea. If you want a drag car then get the B20...you will be able to boost the hell out of it...or just boost your B18.

the US CRV B20B which was in the 1st generation CRV has about 140hp. the US B20Z and JDM B20B has about 150-155hp. I have yet to lose to a car with a B16 and bolt ons...and this is in my 4dr with a stock B20. the engine is also relatively cheap compared to B18C prices, which is why im suggesting a B20 swap if money is tight. a B20 in a G2teg will whoop some ass.

i meant street (my daily driver) and race(track). So I was more concerned with the higher revs.
What kind of numbers should I expect from boosting my B18?
