Default 95 GS-R maint.

I have a 95 GS-R with 103k on it. Wel its starting to feel a little sluggish at certain spots throughout the RPM range sometimes. Not all the time thoguh. im wondering what I may have overlooked when doing the regular tuneup. Heres what ive done.
NGK copper plugs
bought adavnced auto parts wires I htink Xact is brand
alwyas do oil changes every 3k
have my timing turned to 17 or 18
Acura cap and rotor
all new belts

so if I missed anything please let me know

Maybe I could justy be getting used to the car ive had it about 7 months. Great car but it just feels like it dont wanna go sometimes. thanks for any input

Hmm, you could check the valves, make sure they are adjusted correctly. Your putting 91 octane or whatever you have wherever you are right? You could check the fuel filter make sure thats not plugged up.

Your not low on oil are you? Is the vtec engaging properly? Are your plugs gapped properly? Are they the right heat level?

Thats about all I can think of right now. Are the flat RPM spots consistant? Where does it happen?

Well there are some other regular maintenance things that u should do.. not necessariy that they would cause whatever problem ur having... valve adjustment(as mentioned), fuel filter replacement, tranny fluid replacement. Get a compression test done.

I agree with most of the people about the valve adjustment and especially V-Tech engagement, but also on a sidenote, make sure the engine is warmed up properly before you drive...and does your fan turn on after a long drive??? Mine didn't and i heard that it does after pass a certain mileage. I think it's 60k not too sure though. If not try wiring a switch to it so you can cool it out manually. I did it because I wanted to cool off the engine after racing on the drag strip. Just a suggestion...not really a solution!

ya I gorgot to mention that I did chnage the fuel filter and tranny fluid with synthetic 10 30. Also the plugs are gapped right but not sure the heat BKR6E-11is what I have. Now the flat spot is not all the time. But like say im winding it in second after turning a corner o somehitng sometimes it feels dead until 6 grand when yes the VTEC kicks in everytime just fine and I am using premium fuel

Well, check the valves when the engine is cold. Not like, in the morning cold, but 70 degrees cold. Make sure they are not out of spec. I noticed a large increase in power when I fixed mine, it pulled better over 5k.

Knowing how I drive, taking a corner in 2nd gear fast is right around the 4400 rpm vtec engagement point. Are you sure the cams are engageing?

Its the 2ndaryies that are opening up at 5800 that your feeling btw, secondary intake runners. The vtec cams change over at 4400 but you don't really feel a power increase at that point.

When it bogs does it feel like it cant get out of its own way, and then when 5800 hits its like it cant go fast enough? -Mine felt this way when the cams were not engaging.

how do you know if the cams are engaging at 4400?? I mean its not dog slow but it just feels sluggish maybe its just me. then when the secondaries open its something you feel especially in second gear. so hat would tell me that the cams are engaging right??

If they dont engage you might hear clicking as they try to engage. Your vtec controller might be broken but I think you would get an ECU light if that happened. Anway...

if it feels like the motor is falling on its face as your going over 4400 and into 5k+ then the cams are not engageing.
