If u want to make any power at all go FI. You can spend money on little bolt ons for a few ponies but it isnt going to increase your 1/4 mile times very much at all. If you want something cheap run a small shot of nitrous...or save up for a turbo if you want to make lots of power. Dont waste your money on cams for drag racing in an ls.

Howso?

Less boost, its only on at WOT, I have yet to hear of anyone blowing an engine because of a JRSC

Yeah, vortech supercharges do kinda suck. They have the peaky HP of turbo's (most of the power is in the high rpms), but they don't get as good HP numbers or powerband as a good turbo setup.

Turbo's spool up from burnt exhaust gases, so you can drive around with out having it spool if you want.

2. The Eaton supercharger system incorporates a specially designed bypass valve, which is actuated by a vacuum motor near the throttle body, and recirculates the supercharger air flow when boost is not required. During typical driving conditions, the engine is under boost around 5% of the time, which means the remaining 95% of the time the engine is under vacuum, allowing for better fuel economy and a quieter ride. In addition, the helix angled rotors, along with specially designed inlet and outlet port geometry, also reduce pressure variations resulting in a smooth discharge flow and a lower level of noise during operation. The associated ducting and mounting used in installing the supercharger can play a major role in reducing the noise emitted by the supercharger.

i thought with a jrsc, it would just replace the stock intake manifold, why would you have to replace your headers?

maybe some turbo grind cams. that or stock is all you would want with a turbo.

and turbos are safer than SC's considering they are both running at 6 psi. turbo has no parasitic drag, higher efficiency(less heat) and an intercooler cools the intake charge down more. you just hear of people cranking up the boost and blowing there motors.

If youre gonna get agessive cams make sure you upgrade the valvetrain as well. And if you decide to go nitrous NX makes one of if not the best small shot dry kits around.

Ok i know its kinda bias but after reading jr's web site they said,

"Unlike a turbocharger, the Eaton supercharger does not contribute to under hood heat (which is where you pick up your intake air). Our system only increases the intake charge air by 74 degrees Fahrenheit even when under hood temperatures are over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Even after hours of testing on our engine dyno, our discharge temperatures have not exceeded a 74 degree Fahrenheit rise, substantiating Eaton's claims of supercharger efficiency. Because our supercharger is hung off the engine in a position that receives large amounts of airflow, our total system efficiency is very high. We do not need to add the expense or complication of a flow-through inter-cooler and the loss of boost that comes with its use."

Kinda interesting and just thought I'd share. Oh yeah the 2 year 100,000 mile warrenty is nice and its smog and carb legal if thats a concern.
