I have the same problem with my 1998 GS-R. Did you ever figure it out? I am thinking it is either because I have decaying engine mounts (visible)... or a bad clutch (but I installed a new clutch less than a year ago, with a new light aluminum flywheel..I did NOT have the flywheel turned since it was new...didn't think I had to.) It still did the chatter after I changed the clutch, just not as bad..

I don't want to install engine mount inserts... I like a smooth ride also.. I am hoping you figured it out!

Please respond. thanks.

Frankly, I would not expect a response from the original poster of this thread. If memory serves, we haven't heard from him in quite some time.

So ...since you have said that your engine mounts are visibly degrading, replace them with a slightly firmer mount or insert. Broken mounts can lead to serious problems with CV joint wear or worse.

Don't neglect the problem that's right in front of you.

I believe Energy Suspension makes a range of polyurethane mounts in differing durometer ratings. If so, you ought to be able to find an aftermarket mount that will be less apt to fail, while still maitaining a low NVH level.

If you're truly worried about increased NVH (noise, vibration & harshness), you could always replace the mounts with new OEM-equivalent parts. You'll just need to refine your launch strategy...

Last resort: check your differential. This is basically a trans teardown. Good Luck.

It goes away after a few minutes because your tires are cold. Performance tires don't work well until they get some heat in them, mine do the same thing.

My car does the same thing, only when it is cold, If i try to drive off at just above idle you can like feel the engine bounce back and forth. To take off smooth when cold I have to slip the clutch out at about 1500+ rpms. Goes away when warm, I can take off at idle smoothly. I thought it was an engine tune or clutch issue. I have 90k miles on my teg, original clutch I presume.

Bad struts can cause this to happen too. If they going bad, they'll be too weak to help keep the tires grounded when you take off from a stop. Check to see if they are leaking or press down on car to see how it bounces back. If it is a little lazy then you'll know something is up.
