In the US, an authorized repair shop/acura dealer may disable the airbag. I know this for a fact because I was inquiring about the samething.

If you cannot read English then I will attempt explaining it to you again in, unfortunately, English, 'cos you probably don't know any other language...

All I was saying in my post is that when you drive a car in which basically there is no airbags anymore (many rebuilders are this way - salvage dealers repair them and put airbag COVERS instead of real airbags), there is no problem. I know this is a different topic, but at least the post was not that complicated...

Airbags kill people. Seatbelts kill people. Putting your face through the windshield kills people. Collapsing/breaking/folding seats kill people.

Something in your car has killed someone. But a majority of the safety devices work for a majority of the people.

In the states (maybe just mine, but I'm pretty sure it's nationwide) it's Illegal to disable your drivers-side airbag. And if you get injured and your insurance company finds out your airbag was disabled, you can kiss your coverage goodbye.

And your insurance company is expecting that rebuild to be 100% rebuilt and is expecting it to have a new airbag.

Having seen two airbags come at me, it's scary. The car fills up with the smoke and dust - it burns your skin, eyes, lungs and clothing. But it sure beats whacking your face on the steering column.

I'd say keep the airbag even if you're short, or, at the very least, do some more research on it before being too quick to disable it. I bet the number of short people saved by airbags is far greater than those killed by them.

I'm no MD or lawyer, so do what you want - these are just my thoughts after reading all of the stuff in this thread

Thank you everyone who has responded to my post.

I never thought about disabling my airbag. I was seeking suggestions for ways to position my seat comfortably and still reach the pedals, while staying 10 inches from the steering wheel.

I am currently investigating where to purchase pedal extensions and if they are available in Canada.

Thank you again.

Airbags scare me. I think I'm more scared of getting smacked in the face by the airbagt than anything else if I get in a wreck.
and why would your face hit the steering wheel if you're wearing your seatbelt?

You shouldn't. But you'd be amazed how many people still don't wear their seatbelts.
